Cheltenham was our next stop. It was not very exciting but we had booked the hotel already and got their late since we drove from Pembrokeshire. This is one of a few pictures we took, and is of the Royal Crescent. Another random picture from Cheltenham. Off to Stratford-Upon-Avon. An attempt to capture the "WC" on the sign to indicate what we Americans call "bathrooms".
Driving in the Cotswolds. Check out that handsome profile. Our morning drive through the Cotswolds was absolutely beautiful.
Some random pictures out the car window. Amy was impressed with the countryside and couldn't wait to take pictures.(more Cotswolds, I couldn't help myself, it was lovely) As we left Stratford-Upon-Avon which I (Amy) thought was a hideous tourist trap amid all sorts of natural beauty. I got a kick out of the Shakespeare County Raceway sign. Not what you'd expect to be the namesake of a literary great. Back through the Cotswolds
We got to Stratford-Upon-Avon and promptly left, seeing it was a mess of tourist traps and shopping. We needed a small, quiet town.
We picked up some tourist info in Stratford-Upon-Avon and found what looked promising... a town called Winchcombe with many walking paths. So we headed that way. This yellowish stone is typical of the Cotswolds architecture and is part of what makes this area so charming.
